Collegians Cricket Club
About Us
Collegians Cricket Club will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in season 2023/24. Formed in 1974/75 when the St Patrick's cricket club (temporarily) amalgamated with the Old Collegians cricket club. The new club used the name "Collegians" from that point. Although the "Old Collegians" later once again fielded a standalone team for several years, the larger club continued to use the Collegians name. In 1979/80 the two clubs again came together, this time for good.
The club has enjoyed great on field success from the 1990's onwards and enters the upcoming season as defending SMCA 1st & 2nd grade title holders (premiers in 2022/23)
Where We Play & Train
Location
The club is homed at the playing fields of the Sale Catholic College. The main oval boasts an outstanding turf centre wicket on a ground the same size as the mighty MCG. A further two ovals have near new wide strip astro turf wickets surrounded by well grassed playing fields.
Training
During the playing season training nights are Tuesday & Thursday. A new set of three nets including one usually dedicated to the use of the clubs Jugs bowling machine.
Away games
All opposition grounds are located within a 30 minute drive from Sale. There are several other clubs located in Sale and nearby Wurruk. Between home games and clubs in close proximity there are very few trips out of town.
