The Collegians Cricket Club was first formed in season 1974/75 by the merger of the St Patrick's cricket club and the Old Collegians cricket club. This first version of the club was short lived, one or maybe two seasons. For reasons unknown, some of the Old Collegians players broke away again to field a single team while the remainder stayed as the Collegians club, fielding three senior teams. In season 1978/79 Collegians struggled to put its third team on the field and likewise the OC battled to field one. At the start of the 1979/80 year the Old Collegians players again came together under the Collegians banner, this time for good. The Collegians Mk2 club fielded 3 teams that year, eventually rebuilding to four in 1986/87. The school's junior teams continued to be know as "St Patricks" or "College" into the late 1990s when Collegians senior club took over the administration of those teams as well.
